Episode 3 - February 1
Week three of 13 for
Distraction begins. The three contestants today are Signe,
who helped to steal an ice cream truck; Kenny, who gets
ignored by girls at bars; Karen, who said the most
exciting thing about her is not setting a cup on a
coaster; and Matt, who hit a girl in a wheelchair with a
Frisbee and ran away. The first round today consisted of
the normal buzz-in round. However, this time, contestants
wore Devo-style plant pot hats. If you knew it, jump on
the trampoline under you and hit the ceiling with your
head to buzz in. To make it fair, the ceiling was
different heights for everyone, making it the same
distance to jump.
This time, all the questions had to do with song lyrics.
Our host, Jimmy Carr, would read part of a lyric, and
players had to finish it. Karen quickly slams her head off
the ceiling and gets a point for knowing the song lyric
"Oops, I did it again". Matt, however, picked up two
knowing "Sweet Dreams are made of these" and "Friends say
I should act my age; what's my age again?" Kenny finally
locked in with one knowing a Spice Girls song. However,
Matt came back in answering, "I fought the law and the law
won". Karen finally rang in again with "Do you really want
to hurt me?" However, Signe missed the last one, which
meant she is out of the game.
Round 2 this time was a spin-off of an older round on the
first episode. When you buzz in, you get hit in the head
with a bottle. Please note that these are breakaway
bottles. This time, all the questions were Capital and
Country questions. Karen got two right, knowing Seoul is
Korea and Vienna is in Austria. However, she did miss on
saying that Kabul is the capital of Georgia. Matt locked
in, but missed that Budapest is in Hungary. Kenny missed
another one right after, not knowing Madrid is in Spain.
We really hit the bottom of the question difficulty
barrel, but Kenny got Brasília is in Brazil. Kenny locked
in the final round, but missed it, not knowing where
Prague is located. Through a lot of fake painful looks,
Karen and Kenny came out ahead, and Matt is out.
It's time for the final round. The champion today will be
playing for a brand new Mazda. Every right answer you get
when you buzz in, now, means a nudist enters a small phone
booth with you. Note: these aren't necessarily
good-looking nudists. Karen picks up three very quickly,
much to Kenny's chagrin, knowing the super model in "Fair
Game", Cindy Crawford; the actress in "Monster", Charlize
Theron; and the actress who was in G.I. Jane, Demi Moore.
Kenny finally rang in, knowing who starred in "13 Going on
30", Jennifer Garner. However, Karen, even with a very
early buzz, knew the actress in Baywatch, Pamela Anderson.
I would have put more, but that's all he got through.
Kenny got a second, knowing that Jessica Alba was in "Dark
Angel". Finally, Karen locked the game up with the woman
who was married to David Justice, Halle Berry. Karen got
the final nudist in the booth and won a brand new Mazda.
Kenny won two used nudists.
It's time for everyone's favorite Distraction bonus: the
damaged car round. Each question right meant a part of the
car was safe. Each one wrong meant an eliminated
contestant damaged a part of the car. Karen chose
questions about Botany, but in reality, they have nothing
to do with it at all. It's just a little pre-question
story tie-in. The first question was to protect the
headlights. She got the first one correct, knowing Demi
Moore was going out with Ashton Kutcher. The headlights
were safe, but the hood could be gone next. Not for her,
though, as she knew Tony Robbins said "Unleash the power
within". Two down, but the paint job could be screwed up
with multi-colored paint next. However, she did not know
who the author of "Naked Lunch" was. Because she didn't,
the other 3 eliminated players poured tons of paint all
over the car. As Jimmy put it, she had just pimped her
ride. The next question would be even more painful,
because it was for the windshield. However, it was no
trouble for her, as she knew Nia Vardalos starred in "My
Big Fat Greek Wedding". The final question answered wrong
meant her doors would be keyed. This did not happen,
though, as she knew the TV chef Emeril has the catchphrase
"bam!" Karen is the big winner today with a brand new
Mazda
. with a lot of paint over it! |
